Ian's knowledge of livestock, farm equipment and the dairy business is extensive. Graduating from UBC in 1979, Ian spent a short time teaching before moving on to a full-time career auctioneering plus farming as the full-time owner operator of PATON HOLSTEINS DAIRY FARM LTD.

His knowledge of the business has been called upon many times as an expert witness in BC Supreme Court on the matters of farm equipment appraisals and to explain procedures involved in dairy quotas and marketing.

Over the years, Ian Paton has held many positions that enabled him to increase awareness for commercial farming in BC. His efforts have been harvested by government organizations from the municipal to federal levels to study agricultural practices. Ian's knowledge of agribusiness has also been broadcasted on television, radio and in print media.
